This week's date spot recommendation is Pasta Da Pulcinella in Midtown. When you arrive at the small, yellow bungalow surrounded by wide leafy trees, you'll see it filled with intimate lighting, hardwood floors and the original fireplace. It'll feel more like your going to a dinner party at someone's home than out to eat. Situated off the beaten path on Peachtree Walk between 12th and 13th streets, the restaurant's cozy wooden tables and white cloth table covers will be a welcome sight from the city's concrete and skyscrapers.
The staff is very friendly and rather laid back, which is done intentionally to make you feel at home. Serving lunch and dinner, the kitchen is known for its fresh, reasonably priced pasta dishes that are made from scratch and are beautifully presented with a surprising and innovative combination of flavors in each concoction. There is a satisfying lunch menu of tagliatelle, stuffed ravioli, salad and sandwiches. Daily features are likely to include chicken, fish and beef.
The most popular house favorite is tortelli di mele -- plump round pasta filled with sweet Italian sausage, browned Granny Smith apples, and Parmesan, then topped with browned butter and sage. This dish is packed full of flavor and will have you wanting more and more. Also recommend the Lobster Ravioli -- ravioli stuffed with lobster and cheese in a Champagne cream sauce topped with basil and diced tomatoes.
Overall, this is one of the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta and yet it still feels like a bit of a secret spot. An intimate and romantic atmosphere that is as close as it gets to the real thing, we think you're date at Pasta Da Pulcinella will be a memorable one.
